Bangalore

Hello friends, I decided to leave Mysore for my day off from yoga and visit the bustling city of Bangalore.
It's such a time warp. People are walking around in Western clothes, there are malls and stuff. It's weird. I went in a mall briefly and sort of felt at home.
I took the train here and it took over 4 hours to go the app. 150 km. India is slowly growing on me. People are mostly really friendly. Where else can you see a Swarovski crystal store and then walk 10 minutes and see some lady breaking up rock into gravel by hand and a guy transporting it on a cart pulled by a cow. I think I know I'm going home soon and I'm getting nostalgic about all this stuff already.
Something I will not be nostalgic about: the cockroach that crawled on me while I was trying to sleep last night. I had insomnia again last night and the night before. The cockroach did not help things at all. I kinda hoped the insomnia would just magically disappear when I started meditating...it has not. I think it will probably go away gradually. I'm not even actively worrying about anything. I think with all this new awareness in my body, I've been finding muscles where I was holding tension and didn't know it. I've been releasing the tension from those muscles, but I think the tension has transfered itself to the muscles in my face. These muscles are more difficult to control consciously. Anyhoo, I'll continue to work on all the stress and stuff and then I think the insomnia will not rear its ugly head so often.
I emailed Iowa to tell them I'm not going to their school. That makes it all official!
It was nice to get out of Mysore and be moving around a little bit. I'm feeling more motivated than I was a week or so ago.
Hugs,
Lauren

Hey Lauren,
I was just listening to the sugar shop today and heard news of a mosque bombing in southern India. I couldn't quite catch the name of the town, but I know its not where you are. I guess I'm just wondering what kind of news you hear on that front. Do you follow any kind of current events or what have you from India?

ps I come back on July 25th - so you wanna do it that next weekend?

With all that permeating relaxation and lack of tension, how can you conjure up enough stress to rise to a sitting or standing position?

Hi again Lauren....

This is Shesh again.... I find that you are right in my home town--Bangalore.....

I read your very brief first impressions / comments on Bangalore--- lots more to know & see....

There are a lot of European & Americans settled & working here in the software & BPO industry --for which Bangalore is the leading city of India.... If ever you want to think of an alternate activity-- have you thought of being in the BPO industry??? Then you can be very near your passion --yoga ahramas.... Big companies like Hewlet Packard ; Dell ; Accenture etc hire country specific people for their BPO operations out of India (the 12 hour time difference is the key)...

But then you are all set for career in law--- that is the highest paying profession in the US???

If you are going to be in Bangalore in the next few days, would you be interested in a meet over a cup of coffee--- (I'm a teetotaller y'see)

BTB--the cow is used to give milk--that you probably drink at Mysore everyday... What you saw was a bullok--that draws the cart....

Also your friend Momo need'nt worry as she can see that India is a very big country & events at one place generally dont affect life elsewhere...The city's name is Hyderabad-- also trying very hard to catch up with Bangalore in software --Microsoft's India Office is in Hyderabad...
