Enough with the Marichiasana D
Hello friends, Sharath and I had another short talk about Mari D after practice today. I'm really touched that he's so attentive to me. He said "one more week...", I told him I'm leaving in 2, so the pressure's on.
But, honestly, I'm getting really tired of thinking and talking about Marichiasana D. Boring. It'll be nice to have some other stuff going on in my life.
My back's feeling much better. Jump for joy.
Not much else to report--oh, I got my roommates to talk in Portuguese, but slowly, and I do understand the gist of what they're saying. Now I have to make myself try to talk.
TTFN,
Lauren

Hi Lauren;
Since I've been somewhat absent from the comment column of late, and since you'll soon be home and have no further need of my literary efforts, I'll try to bring you up to date on the happenings in Roseville and environs, most of which have been family oriented. So if you get bored, just give me the "hook"!
Our son from Olympia, WA and his children will be visiting here for the next week or so........three kids, two identical twin 10 year old boys and a 12 year old girl. We're busy already trying to think of things that might keep them occupied. We'll try fishing one day and possibly take them to a par three golf course another. When we visited there in May we took them to a driving range and the two boys have respectable swings for kids their age. The rest of the time we'll spend trying to figure out just which boy is which.
This week is "cabin week" for all of our kids that live locally. For the past 23 years, all three of the families that live in the Twin Cities area have set aside a week, usually in June, where they'll rent a couple of cabins at a resort in either Wisconsin or Minnesota and spend the week hanging out together. For the past four years they've been going to a resort near Hayward and they usually invite us "old folks" to stay for a couple of days. So that's what we did on Monday and Tuesday. There's swimming and poker and eating and hiking and golf and poker and boating and reading and poker.......did I mention poker? Everybody has a great time and as an example that even the older kids enjoy it, one of the college age grandsons was considering not taking a college course this summer because there was going to be an exam during "cabin week" and he'd have to travel back to St. Paul and miss a day at "the cabin". His parents eventually convinced him that one day wasn't too much to miss so he did take the course and made the round trip for the exam on Sunday/Monday.
While we were sitting around on Monday night, one of the younger granddaughters asked her dad if he wouldn't consider getting a dog. He replied in the negative since he was considering lasik surgery and that was going to take his available funds for the time being. She suggested, "Well, we could get a seeing-eye dog.....". These kids are always thinking.
At any rate, we as parents/grandparents consider ourselves grandly blessed to have such a close knit family where EVERYBODY gets along so well. The older kids always look out for the younger ones at "the cabin" and try to engage them in all the daily activities.
Infrequently, even the families from Washington state have traveled to Minnesota to take part in "cabin week". That was the case last year when we had all except one grandson (out of 16 grandkids!)and one son-in-law in town at one time. So much for the family news.
On the golf course, things aren't going so well........I can't even shoot the "temperature" these days and it's been in the high 80's/low 90's!
I got a call from one of the Habitat guys this afternoon requesting that I work at the warehouse tomorrow, assembling extension jambs to window casings so that it doesn't have to be done on site. And I still work at Bridging once or twice a week. Phil (donut hole man) Byrne volunteers there as well as Don Severson. Not sure that those names mean anything to you anymore but I'd guess that at least you'd remember Phil for his donut hole copntributions as well as his origination of the "Dairy Award". (And he's the only lawyer on the team........but we don't hold that against him)
Well, if all of this hasn't enlightened you, at least reading it has taken up some of your valuable time and you're that much closer to hopping on that plane homeward. Thank you for the frequent up-dating of your activities. Though I understand but lttle of your yoga activity descriptions, there is usually something in each blog that I enjoy. And, it's always fun just to hear from you! Your writing style is as articulate as always!
Stay well!

Happy Solstice, Lauren!
How does the shala, or the local folks, celebrate the day?
We'll be flowing through our 108 Surya Namaskara A's on Saturday to honor the change of season.
Look forward to seeing you soon!
xoxo
